A rainbow on the sky

The taste of the arepas , tamales and pinchos generates a typical sensation in me. The celebration is on, and am once again there to tap my feet with the music in the Calle Ocho Festival. Calle Ocho festival is one of the biggest latin festival for Cubans living in Miami. A perfect celebration of the Cuban culture and a striking portrayal of community spirit!

Hosted by the Kiwanis Club of little Harvana this grand and elaborate street party fills the SW8th street of Miami with mesmerizing music, dance and exotic Cuban food. Millions of people throng the streets of little Harvana to witness the live performances. They stroll in the cigar factories and take pleasure in the rich cultures of their homeland.

“Let music be the food of love…”

Folks, the food of love filled the air of Miami with happiness and amusement. The clambake continues with the ceaseless tunes of the music. Salsa and the meringue beats turn the crowd crazy and the big time stars of the Latin music drops in for impromptu performances.

I slipped into the world of utter bliss and ecstasy while I was still standing on the SW8th Street and getting my servings of mint-infused Mojito.

This grand festival grows up every year and now the event is popularly known as carnival Miami. The record says in 1988 the largest Congo line was created with the crowd growing to 119,969 people! The festival spreads its hue and color all throughout the city and undoubtedly these variant shades of color establish a rainbow on the Miamian sky.
